BIO
John Travis, a London native who now calls Los Angeles home, seamlessly transitioned from a successful career as a record producer to the captivating world of street photography. With a storied career spanning decades in the music industry, and having sold millions of records, Travis honed his artistic sensibilities and precise sense of timing, which he now skillfully wields through his camera lens.
Although Travis initially began his photographic journey with studio lighting and portraiture, he soon started into shooting record cover art and promo shots for musicians. However, it was his forays into the vibrant streets of Los Angeles, that truly struck the right chord. In his inaugural year as a street photographer, Travis earned a notable spot in the esteemed book, "To Live and Cry in LA," showcasing images from various photographers of the the Black Lives Matter protests that engulfed Los Angeles. This marked a poignant reunion with his original muse—the spirit of protest—rooted in the punk rock scene of his upbringing in London. As he embarks on his first year as a member of the LACP street photography collective, John Travis continues to capture the pulse of the streets, weaving together his musical DNA with the rhythm of everyday life.
